The city’s criminal police unit said that 32-year-old driver Ho Quoc Vuong, a native from Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam who is temporarily residing in Da Nang’s Ngu Hanh Son Ward, discovered the cash while working on Saturday.
Vuong immediately brought the money to the police station.
Investigators later confirmed the money belonged to Phan Quang Trung, 27, a delivery worker living in Hoi An Tay Ward, Da Nang.
Trung had accidentally dropped the cash earlier that day.
Police returned the full amount to him after verification.
This was not the only case of lost property being returned in this coastal city.
On May 4, local resident Ngo Ngoc Tuan reported that a foreigner, apparently intoxicated, handed him a backpack containing valuables and said “for you” before walking away.
Tuan waited for the man to return but eventually brought the bag to the police station.
That same night, police officers from Thanh Khe Ward identified the foreigner and guided him to reclaim his belongings.
