Hanoi fines youth-favorite eateries Dookki, Laboong, Com Tho Bach Khoa over food safety violations

Authorities in several Hanoi wards have fined a string of popular youth-oriented eateries, including Dookki, Laboong Milk Tea, and Com Tho Bach Khoa, for food safety violations such as poor hygiene, inadequate waste handling, and failure to register business operations.

Officials said recent inspections found widespread breaches, prompting them to impose fines ranging from VND1.5 million (US$57) to VND12 million ($455) depending on the severity.

In Kim Lien Ward, a branch of Dookki all-you-can-eat restaurant chain at Vincom Pham Ngoc Thach and a unit run by Golden Gate Group Vietnam were each fined VND8 million ($303) for stagnant and uncovered wastewater systems.

Other outlets in the ward were penalized for storing food on unhygienic surfaces and failing to use protective gloves when handling ready-to-eat items.

In Lang Ward, a Laboong milk tea shop at Nam Thanh Cong residential area was fined VND4 million ($152) for lacking proper waste containers and Bach Khoa claypot rice outlets at 28 Chua Lang Street was fined VND7.5 million ($285) for ot registering as household businesses, alongside several other businesses.

Authorities in Dong Da and Vinh Tuy Wards reported similar violations, including unsafe storage conditions and inadequate protective equipment for staff, as part of ongoing food safety enforcement.
