Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City make Time Out’s list of best cities for 2026

Hanoi ranked 25th in the list of 50 cities, while Ho Chi Minh City placed 38th, according to the annual ranking released by the publication.

The ranking was based on a survey of more than 24,000 residents across 150 cities worldwide, combined with assessments from more than 100 Time Out editors and contributors.

Cities were evaluated across factors including food, culture, nightlife, affordability, and overall quality of urban life.

Apart from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the global list featured nine other Asian cities overall.

Time Out said the list aims to highlight cities that offer both strong travel appeal and vibrant everyday urban life for residents and visitors.

Melbourne topped the 2026 ranking, followed by Shanghai, Edinburgh, London, and New York City.

The annual ranking marks the tenth edition of Time Out’s global ‘Best Cities’ list.
