Hanoi named second best street food city in Asia by Time Out

The magazine affirms that with a culinary journey through Asia, visitors will never go hungry as food there is affordable, accessible, and delicious.

Synonymous with addictive, budget-friendly street food, Asia is considered a paradise for the world’s best street food.

In Time Out's ranking, Hanoi is followed by Singapore, Mumbai (India), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Tainan (Taiwan), Osaka (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), and Chengdu (China).

The capital of Vietnam is home to delicious dishes found in narrow alleys, cramped staircases, and bustling street corners.

“Join the lines outside Banh mi 25 in Old Town for a barbecue pork banh mi. Hunt for a steaming bowl of northern-style pho down a dark hallway and up a winding staircase into the living room of Ms. Minh at Pho Hang Trong. Snag a stool at Banh cuon ba Loc for some banh cuon, a rice paper roll filled with minced pork and mushrooms,” the magazine recommended.

Banh mi is Vietnamese bread, while pho is a noodle dish served with hot broth cooked from beef or chicken.

If you only try one dish, bun cha (rice noodles with grilled pork and meatballs) is a great choice.

Last year, surpassing other nominees such as Bangkok, Tokyo, and Seoul, Hanoi was named the 'Best Culinary City in Asia 2024' at the World Culinary Awards in Dubai, the UAE.

Hanoi also ranked among the top 15 cities with the most enticing cuisine in the world in 2024, according to Tripadvisor’s rankings.
