The drones were deployed at the Khuat Duy Tien-Nguyen Trai intersection, a busy section of the city's Beltway 3 corridor.

According to police, the devices help officers identify violations at locations that are difficult to monitor from the ground, including areas with limited visibility and heavy traffic.

On the elevated Beltway 3 section, the drones can detect vehicles driving in emergency lanes, stopping or parking illegally, or picking up and dropping off passengers in prohibited areas.

The footage is transmitted to traffic authorities for enforcement or verification and can be used as evidence for traffic fines.

Equipped with high-resolution cameras and long-range zoom capabilities, the drones can capture license plate numbers, vehicle locations, and details of traffic violations from a considerable distance.

The devices also transmit live video and data in real time and are integrated with artificial intelligence technology to help identify traffic violations, urban order offenses, and traffic congestion.

The specialized drones enable authorities to quickly detect traffic and urban order violations at locations with limited visibility, areas that are difficult to monitor, or roads with heavy traffic volumes.

During peak hours, the drones allow authorities to monitor large areas and quickly locate traffic accidents, vehicle breakdowns, and bottlenecks.

Police said the pilot program could pave the way for broader use of advanced technologies in traffic and urban management as Hanoi moves toward developing a smarter and more modern city.

After a violation was recorded, traffic police officers stopped the vehicle and presented the driver with clear drone-captured images and video footage as evidence.
