The city’s Department of Construction, which is also responsible for traffic management, said on Thursday the temporary traffic adjustment is to facilitate urgent repairs to the bridge’s pedestrian, motorcycle, and non-motorized lanes.

The repairs are aimed at ensuring safety for the Hanoi–Dong Dang railway line, which runs across the bridge.

During the closure, all road traffic in both directions on Long Bien Bridge, from Bo De Ward to Hoan Kiem Ward and vice versa, will be suspended.

Motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles will be diverted via roads connecting to Chuong Duong Bridge, including Long Bien–Xuan Quan, Tran Nhat Duat and Tran Quang Khai routes, depending on travel direction.

During the period, bicycles will be allowed to travel in both directions in the mixed-traffic lane of Chuong Duong Bridge.
