On Monday, heat is forecast to spread across the central Vietnamese provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Hue, where temperatures are expected to reach 35-36 degrees Celsius, with some locations exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.

Northern provinces will also see localized heat.

By Tuesday, heat will possibly expand to the Red River Delta and the southern part of Phu Tho Province, with highs of 35-36 degrees Celsius, and some areas above 37 degrees Celsius.

From Wednesday to Friday, widespread heat is expected across the north, Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak.

The agency said this early June heatwave will be less severe than the one that just ended, though it may persist in central Vietnam beyond next Monday.

Southern Vietnam, however, is forecast to see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain during the afternoons and evenings from Monday to Thursday.

From Friday onward, scattered rainfall is expected to continue.

At sea, a low-pressure trough connected to an offshore low-pressure area near the south-central coast has been generating showers and thunderstorms across several maritime zones.

On Monday, showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the central and southern parts of the East Vietnam Sea, including Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Special Zone, as well as the waters from Quang Ngai to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to An Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Thunderstorms may be accompanied by whirlwinds, strong gusts, and waves exceeding two meters.

In the western East Vietnam Sea and the waters from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, southwest winds will blow at 30-50 kph, gusting up to 60 kph, with waves between 1.5 and 2.5 meters.

Authorities warned that vessels in these areas face risks from whirlwinds, strong gusts, and rough seas.
