The campaign was initiated following a directive from chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc after a working session with the municipal Department of Education and Training on the current state and demand for educational facilities across the city.
According to the chairman’s conclusion, the city consistently regards education as a top priority and has committed to allocating sufficient budget and building infrastructure to create a better learning environment for students.
The 150-day classroom building campaign is set to wrap up before September 5.
The municipal Department of Education and Training was tasked with coordinating with local authorities to prepare a detailed plan for building schools and classrooms and complete it prior to March 31.
The People’s Committees of communes and wards will be responsible for determining locations, scale, funding sources, and construction timelines for school projects in accordance with guidance from the municipal Department of Education and Training.
Investment in education is a strategic investment for sustainable urban development, so relevant agencies have been instructed to work flexibly and cut administrative procedures and processing time by 50 percent to speed up classroom and school construction.
When planning new school construction, the city will apply a benchmark of 300 classrooms for every 10,000 residents of school age.
School construction standards will be applied flexibly to suit the specific conditions of each area.
The chairman has also directed relevant units to mobilize diverse resources for school construction, including the state budget, contributions from individuals and organizations, and non-refundable sponsorship from businesses.
A special task force has been established to monitor and direct the implementation of the school construction target.
