Traffic surveillance cameras in Ho Chi Minh City have detected more than 84,500 traffic violations since the start of 2026, city police said on Monday.

The violations were recorded through an automated monitoring network of nearly 2,000 cameras, including dozens equipped with artificial intelligence, operated by the city’s traffic police.

The system covers central areas and major routes including sections of National Highway 1 passing through the city.

Police said common offenses included speeding, running red lights, illegal stopping or parking, ignoring traffic signs, driving the wrong way, and entering restricted roads.

Authorities also recorded cases of drivers mounting sidewalks reserved for pedestrians or leaving vehicles on the roadway, obstructing traffic.
