According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center, a stable cold air mass continues to spread southward, while a subtropical high-pressure system over southern Vietnam weakens and shifts further south.
The interaction of these systems allows upper-atmosphere disturbances to intensify again, causing out-of-season rainfall across the region.
On Thursday, skies may remain partly cloudy with intermittent sunshine during the day.
Thunderclouds begin forming in some areas in the afternoon and develop more strongly toward late afternoon and evening, bringing showers and thunderstorms to roughly one-third of the region.
Some locations may see moderate rainfall, with precipitation concentrating mainly along the southwestern border areas.
The regional weather agency warned of potential hazards during thunderstorms, including strong gusts, whirlwinds, and lightning.
Similar weather patterns may persist on Friday. Partly cloudy conditions continue through the day before scattered unseasonal showers and thunderstorms develop again in the late afternoon and evening.
Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rain.
In the following days, occasional showers are expected in some areas.
Southern Vietnam is entering the peak of the dry season. However, meteorologists said that this year’s dry season is not as severe as in 2015-16 or 2019-20.
Authorities advised residents to collect and store fresh water from these off-season rains for use during drier periods.
