Ho Chi Minh City man catches python nesting in motorbike trunk

The Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department on Wednesday received a 2-meter python weighing about 4kg from a local resident after he caught the reptile inside the trunk of a motorbike parked in a factory in Binh Chanh District.

The man, 42-year-old Pham Trong Vinh, and another person used a screwdriver to open the vehicle's trunk in order to catch the python.

Vinh guessed that the reptile crawled into the factory from a nearby canal or trees outside before becoming trapped in the motorbike.

After receiving the python from Vinh, forest rangers determined that the reptile was a Python bivittatus, which is native to a large area of Southeast Asia and is listed as vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
