Ho Chi Minh City man wins record $13.2 million lottery jackpot
A man from Ho Chi Minh City has won a record VND345 billion (US$13.2 million) in Vietnam’s Power 6/55 lottery, the largest single-ticket jackpot in the country’s history, state-owned lottery company Vietlott said on Tuesday.
The winner, identified only as N.P., matched all six numbers — 02, 34, 39, 41, 45 and 52 — in the July 12 draw and claimed the prize on Tuesday after the ticket was verified.
The ticket was purchased at a Vietlott sales outlet in the city.
N.P. said he regularly buys lottery tickets and checks them a day later.

He will be subject to a 10-percent personal income tax on the prize, totaling more than VND34 billion ($1.3 milion), the company said.
The previous record jackpot under Vietlott’s system — VND314 billion ($12 million) awarded in April 2024 — was significantly lower, making this the largest win since the company launched its computerized lottery in 2016.
