Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested and prosecuted a 31-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a female shipper after a dispute over the delivery of an order of goods.

The investigative police agency under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Public Security said on Saturday that it had initiated criminal proceedings against Truong Nguyen Huy, a local resident, and issued an order for his temporary detention on charges of disturbing public order.

According to police, at around noon on March 15, a 44-year-old female shipper, identified only as T., received a food delivery order through an app.

When she arrived at the delivery address, the customer asked her to leave the order at the hotel reception desk.

As no receptionist was on duty at the time, she suggested waiting for the recipient to step outside and collect the order in person.

A few minutes later, Huy appeared and, after an argument, allegedly struck the woman several times in the head, causing her to fall onto the street as her motorbike toppled onto her leg.

After nearby residents helped T. to stand up, Huy reportedly continued pushing her, making her fall a second time and only stopped when bystanders intervened.

The assault was captured by a nearby security camera.

Local residents later helped take the woman to a hospital for examination.

At around 1:50 pm the same day, she went to Gia Dinh Ward police to file a complaint about the incident.

An image from a security camera shows Truong Nguyen Huy allegedly assaulting a female shipper, causing her to fall in Ho Chi Minh City, March 15, 2026.

After receiving it, authorities quickly moved to verify the case, gather evidence, and summon Huy for questioning.

At the police station, he confessed to assaulting T., as shown in security camera footage and the victim’s statements.

Authorities said that using violence to settle disputes, even minor ones, is unacceptable and will be strictly punished under the law.

A moment of anger can lead to criminal liability, civil compensation, and long-term consequences, they warned.

Authorities affirmed they will thoroughly investigate and decisively handle all acts of hooliganism, and urged residents to act lawfully, behave civilly, and never use violence to resolve disputes.
