Ho Chi Minh City police on Monday said they had received 34 Vietnamese nationals deported from the United States for violating local laws.

The group, all of whom had registered residence in Ho Chi Minh City before leaving Vietnam, was handed over to Vietnamese authorities after being processed by U.S. authorities, the city’s Immigration Management Department said.

They arrived on March 17 at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, where officers coordinated their reception and processing.

All 34 had criminal records in the United States prior to deportation, the department said.

Police carried out identity checks and administrative procedures before transferring the individuals to local authorities and their families.

The department said Vietnamese citizens traveling abroad for work, study or residence should comply with host country laws, particularly immigration and labor rules, to avoid penalties, detention or deportation.
