Ho Chi Minh City police return stolen phone to S.Korean man, arrest robber

The robber admitted to committing several other robbery cases

Police in Ward 13, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City returned a stolen mobile phone worth about VND28 million (US$1,140) to its owner, Sim Jun Young, a South Korean national, on Tuesday afternoon after apprehending the robber a day earlier.

At about 11:50 pm on Sunday, Sim was standing on the sidewalk of Ben Van Don Street in Ward 13, District 4 when a man stole his phone.

Sim followed the man but failed to catch him, so he reported the case to the ward police.

Police in Ward 13 later coordinated with criminal police officials in District 4 to seek the robber.

At 11:00 am on Monday, the police arrested Go Xa Ly, 33, residing in Ho Chi Minh City’s outlying Hoc Mon District, and reclaimed the phone.

Go Xa Ly admitted to committing several other robbery cases.

The District 4 Police are collecting evidence to handle Ly in line with the law.
