The announcement was made during a meeting on Thursday with Cambodia's Minister of Tourism Hout Hak, who is visiting the city to attend ITE HCMC 2025.
Duoc emphasized the deepening partnership between Vietnam and Cambodia, noting the strong tradition of good neighborliness, friendship, and sustainable long-term cooperation.
He said Ho Chi Minh City remains one of the most proactive localities in Vietnam when it comes to collaborating with Cambodia, particularly with the capital Phnom Penh.
He described the southern Vietnamese metropolis as aspiring to become a megacity and a regional hub in economy, logistics, and high technology.
The city is also working to position itself as a center for maritime commerce, finance, and spiritual eco-tourism.
The chairman proposed maintaining strong collaboration with Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism by continuing participation in future editions of the travel expo.
To support this, Ho Chi Minh City will provide a 15-percent annual discount on the participation fee for Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism for a 36-square-meter space at the event.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the number of Cambodian tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City remains relatively low and does not place Cambodia among the city's top 20 source markets.
The fee reduction is intended to encourage greater engagement and raise demand between the two tourism sectors.
Data from the authority shows that Vietnam welcomed roughly 475,000 Cambodian visitors in 2024.
In the January-July period of 2025, more than 400,000 Cambodians arrived.
Direct air links between the two countries include five daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh, and three flights each day connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap, operated by both Vietnamese and Cambodian carriers.
