Ho Chi Minh City resolves all severe pollution sites

Under the national merger strategy, which took effect on July 1, the new Ho Chi Minh City was formed by merging the city with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provinces.

As per Decision No. 1788, issued by the prime minister, after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City included 43 facilities classified as severe polluters.

Of these, three were located in the former Ho Chi Minh City, 28 in the former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, and 12 in the former Binh Duong Province.

Until now, all three facilities in the former Ho Chi Minh City have been completely remediated, while all 28 facilities in the former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province have been addressed, with thorough environmental restoration completed.

Besides, all 12 facilities in the former Binh Duong Province have been fully treated, with pollution eliminated and operations of the offending establishments permanently ceased.

The report affirms that across the current Ho Chi Minh City, 100 percent of the severe environmental pollution sites listed under the decision have been completely resolved, marking a significant milestone in the city’s environmental management and sustainability efforts.
