This represents a 10.5-percent increase compared to 2024.
Between January and September 2025, the city recorded $7.94 billion in remittances, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the country’s total, according to Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper.
Remittances originated from multiple regions, with Asia contributing 50 percent, the Americas 30 percent, Europe nine percent, Oceania 8.4 percent, and Africa two percent.
Notably, remittances from Africa surged more than 150 percent, while those from Europe, Oceania, and the Americas rose 16.7 percent, 11 percent, and 10 percent, respectively.
Overall, the city saw an additional $2.5 billion in remittances during the final three months of 2025.
Looking ahead to 2026, remittance flows to Ho Chi Minh City are expected to remain strong.
Lien attributes this to the city’s position as a dynamic and innovative urban hub, supported by a stable macroeconomic environment, flexible exchange rate policies, and steady interest rates.
Remittances not only meet consumption needs, but also add capital to production and business activities.
Moreover, the city is implementing various initiatives to mobilize funds for key projects, including the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center, free trade zones, real estate developments, and other long-term economic projects, strengthening confidence among overseas Vietnamese in resource attraction policies.
Ho Chi Minh City has introduced a strategic plan to attract remittance capital through 2030.
The city is coordinating with relevant departments to improve the efficiency of mobilizing and utilizing remittances, aiming for stable, sustainable economic development with double-digit growth.
