Ho Chi Minh City to begin construction of 8 waste transfer stations this year

Of the eight projects, four already approved or awaiting approval are slated to start in November, while four more are scheduled for December.

The city’s Department of Finance will allocate funding to ensure the projects remain on schedule.

For the remaining 15 transfer stations planned for 2027, the municipal administration aims to start construction on five to seven of them in the first quarter of next year.

At a recent meeting, Bui Minh Thanh, vice-chairman of the municipal administration, asserted that environmental protection is a key responsibility assigned to the city by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

Thanh urged relevant agencies to coordinate closely and streamline administrative procedures to speed up project approvals and construction.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment was asked to work with the Department of Planning and Architecture and local authorities to review and update waste transfer station plans.

The adjustments will consider long-term needs, population density, and future waste volumes.

The vice-chairman stressed that modern equipment and technology must be applied to ensure hygiene and minimal impact on surrounding communities, while land use efficiency will also be prioritized.

The Department of Construction was tasked with coordinating investment procedures and assigning the management authority of the city’s waste treatment facilities as the projects’ investor, with the deadline for completing preparations being July 31 this year.
