Accordingly, on Sunday, voters across the country will cast ballots to elect deputies to the 16th National Assembly, the national legislature, and members of People’s Councils at provincial and commune levels for the 2026-31 term.

The city’s election committee for deputies to the National Assembly and the municipal People’s Council for the 2026-31 term held its eighth meeting on Wednesday to review and assess the progress of election preparations.

The meeting was chaired by Vo Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, deputy secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, chairman of the municipal People’s Council, and chairman of the city’s election committee.

To ensure voting processes run smoothly, the city is utilizing voter management software linked to the national population database, and the VNeID app.

To date, the city has printed more than 9.6 million voter cards and delivered them to election committees at the commune and ward levels.

More than 91 percent of the cards have already been handed to voters.

Authorities will continue reviewing the lists and distributing the remaining cards before the national election day.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs reported that a wide range of preparatory tasks have been implemented.

Thirteen election boards for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and 40 election boards for deputies to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council for the 2026-31 term have been fully established.

As of March 8, more than 2,800 voter meetings had been organized, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants across the city.

Authorities were asked to ensure that no incidents involving fire hazards or food safety occur on the election day.

He also emphasized the importance of careful organization at polling stations, effective communication efforts, and timely recognition and support for grassroots election workers.

During the event, the Ho Chi Minh City election committee also discussed additional issues related to organization, funding, and logistics.

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to establish an election command center at the headquarters of the municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee to monitor developments and provide real-time direction on the election day.

Authorities have also sent official requests to businesses and organizations across the city asking them to facilitate workers’ participation in the vote.

Employers are encouraged to adjust working schedules and avoid overtime shifts on March 15.

In his concluding remarks, Minh stressed that the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels is a major event.

Preparations must be thorough to ensure a successful election and to safeguard the democratic rights of voters.

Early voting completed in several areas

Early voting has already been successfully conducted in four locations in Phuoc Thang Ward, Tam Thang Ward, and Long Son Commune .

From the early voting day on February 26 through March 6, more than 4,200 voters cast their ballots in these areas.

These voters are personnel working in the military and the oil and gas sector who must undertake extended offshore assignments or operational duties, making it impossible for them to participate in the official election day on March 15.
