Some 10 volunteers were working alongside staff and members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City at 55 Mac Dinh Chi Street, Tan Dinh Ward, a key collection point for aid destined for flood-hit localities in central Vietnam, at around 9:00 pm on Saturday.

They were sorting and organizing donated goods.

Nguyen Thi Diem Trinh, a member of the volunteer group, shared that she learned that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City was accepting support for flood victims on Saturday morning.

She immediately contacted the office to inquire about what items were needed and offered to help.

With the support of several residents from her apartment complex in Dong Hung Thuan Ward, she collected a number of neatly packed clothes and brought them to the collection point.

At around 5:00 pm the same day, a group of 10 young volunteers, aged 22 to 25 and living in the same apartment complex, arrived to assist with organizing and loading the donations onto vehicles.

The volunteers, along with staff, committee members, and local residents, loaded the collected goods onto a truck and a container truck, which were then transported to support flood-affected provinces.

At the collection site, many volunteers noted the urgent yet warm atmosphere, with people busy sorting, organizing, and transferring goods while exchanging words of encouragement and sharing smiles.

“We desire to contribute our youthful energy to help those affected by the floods," Trinh said.

"Seeing the news brought tears to my eyes and made me feel I had to do something, even if it’s just a small act."

At around 9:30 pm on Saturday, many residents were still bringing clothing and essential supplies to the Fatherland Front Committee office, hoping to share in the relief effort.

Among them, Hua Van Anh from Phu Lam Ward brought five bags containing about 100 blankets to support flood victims.

He explained that residents in flood-hit areas would need blankets to keep warm.

Together with his spouse and a few others, he purchased and donated the blankets.

He shared that this was his second visit to the collection point.

During his previous visit, he had brought three bags containing nearly 55 blankets.
