Kim Dong, a publishing house based in Vietnam, on Tuesday inaugurated a children’s book center in Ho Chi Minh City, making it the biggest in the city

The Kim Dong Book Center in District 1, capable of housing over 2,500 books, was built as a monument to the publisher’s 40 years of operating in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 550 square meter space features two floors of books arranged by type, such as manga-comics and novels, and age groups.

“This is not a store, but a space for reading and a destination for both children and their parents,” Cao Xuan Son, director of the publisher’s Ho Chi Minh City office, said.

“We hope anybody coming here will be enveloped into a world full of books,” he added.

According to Son, the center of the building houses an area where children can “lie on the floor to read,” and writers and painters can host events related to children’s books.

Over the last 25 years, Kim Dong’s office in Ho Chi Minh City has printed over 800 million copies of various works.
