The Conservation Center for the Ho Dynasty Citadel has launched a one-year program, offering local high school students free trips to visit the world cultural heritage site in Thanh Hoa province.
Titled “Hay cung nhau kham pha Thanh nha Ho duoc xay dung nhu the nao” (Let’s see how the Ho Dynasty Citadel was built), the program, held with support from the UNESCO Office in Hanoi, aims to help students learn about the citadel’s structure and history, in particular, and the country’s history in general, as well as inspire them to learn history at school.
By joining the field trip, students can visit the heritage place, attend a painting contest, and learn how to produce bricks for a model of the citadel.
The program started on May 19 with a visit from students of Pham Van Hinh High School in Vinh Long town, Vinh Loc District.
The Ho Dynasty Citadel was officially recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in June, 2012. The citadel, a great work of architecture, was the capital of Vietnam from 1397 to 1407.
It consists of three sections: a bamboo hedge, a moat and a citadel wall, plus a palace complex with marble-paved roads connecting each palace.
