Honda recalls nearly 90,000 SH scooters in Vietnam over instrument cluster software issue

The recall covers 89,908 scooters produced between August 25, 2025 and April 28, 2026, along with 68 replacement instrument clusters installed between December 6, 2025 and April 28, 2026, according to a company notice.

The National Competition Commission under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said on Monday that it had received a report from Honda Vietnam regarding the recall program.

The move came after Honda Vietnam identified a potential software-related issue affecting the instrument cluster system and its electronic control components, which may cause incorrect or missing information on the digital display under certain operating conditions.

Reported symptoms include the speedometer remaining fixed at 0 kph, missing speed unit and total distance readings, and a non-functioning high-beam indicator.

Honda Vietnam said internal monitoring had recorded a limited number of such cases in real-world use.

In addition, the vehicle may also fail to start in some cases due to incorrect operation of the engine coolant temperature sensor.

The company described the recall as a preventive action aimed at ensuring stable and accurate operation of the instrument cluster system.

All affected vehicles will receive a free inspection and software update at authorized Honda dealerships nationwide, with the procedure expected to take about 12 minutes per scooter.

Owners will be contacted by Honda Vietnam or may proactively visit authorized service centers for assistance.
