Int’l beauty forums react to detention of Miss Grand International Thuy Tien over alleged consumer fraud

The Investigation Police Agency under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on Monday issued a decision to detain and initiate legal proceedings against Thuy Tien, a 27-year-old resident of Ho Chi Minh City.

Findings from police show that Tien and her co-investors, including influencers Pham Quang Linh and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang, at Chi Em Rot Group collaborated on the Kera gummy business, in which she held a 30-percent stake.

The product, which was marketed using her image, is now at the center of a fraud investigation.

Major beauty-focused fanpages like Missosology (3.8 million followers) posted: “What happened to Miss Grand International Thuy Tien from Vietnam?” alongside a photo of her working with authorities, leaving the global beauty pageant audience stunned.

While some followers initially thought the news was fake or a cruel prank, others quickly pointed to official sources.

Sash Factor, with around 580,000 followers, shared updates about Thuy Tien’s arrest on fraud charges, while Malongdo Thailand and other international pages echoed similar headlines.

The development triggered widespread debate: would this scandal lead to her being stripped of the Miss Grand International title?

As of Monday morning, the official Miss Grand International fanpage had not released any statement about the arrest or whether her crown would be revoked.

Previously, Miss Grand International President Nawat Itsaragrisil clarified during a live stream that Tien’s contract with the organization had already ended, possibly shielding the pageant from direct responsibility.
