A project combining a conference center and a five-star hotel has been proposed in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam, marking the first proposal for a hotel of this standard in the locality, where the luxury accommodation segment has long been absent.

According to project documents, the proposed development is called the Quang Ngai Conference and Art Exhibition Center, with a total investment of more than VND939 billion (about US$36.1 million).

If implemented, the project will include a five-star hotel, which would also become the tallest building in Quang Ngai.

The complex is planned on a 6.7-hectare site at the former La Ha Town Middle School campus, a prime location in Tu Nghia Commune, about three kilometers from Quang Ngai downtown.

The project is designed as a mixed-use complex with four main components: a hotel, office space, commercial areas, and an art and event center.

The centerpiece of the project is a 25-story five-star hotel tower, about 120 meters tall, designed as a layered tower structure to create a striking visual effect.

If built, it would be the first five-star hotel in Quang Ngai Province.

Both Quang Ngai and the old Kon Tum Province, which was merged into Quang Ngai given a massive administration overhaul last year, currently lack hotels that meet full five-star standards, leaving this high-end segment largely undeveloped.

For many years, the province has mainly had small and mid-scale accommodation facilities, serving business travelers and basic tourism demand.

The lack of high-end hotels has been seen as a constraint in attracting higher-spending visitors, particularly business travelers.

According to the project developer, the complex is expected to become a new destination for lodging, conferences, exhibitions, shopping, and entertainment.

The hotel and event center are expected to serve as key anchors, attracting tourists and large-scale events.

Architecturally, the project is envisioned as a landmark building for the province, featuring a modern tower design incorporating cultural elements such as Dong Son drum motifs on the façade.

Surrounding areas will include water features and green spaces, aimed at improving the landscape and local microclimate.

The project is also considered aligned with the province’s urban and service development strategy, as the Dung Quat Economic Zone continues to serve as a key driver of local economic growth.

The project is currently seeking investment. The next steps include completing a feasibility study, design appraisal, and the search for strategic partners.
