K-pop star Hyeri arrives in Ho Chi Minh City ahead of first fan meeting in Vietnam

South Korean actress and singer Lee Hyeri, commonly known as Hyeri, arrived in Vietnam on Friday ahead of her first official fan meeting with local supporters, scheduled for Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City.

The fan event, held at Nguyen Du Sports Hall, is part of Hyeri's 2024–25 Asia tour, which includes stops in Seoul, Osaka, Tokyo, Taipei, Macau, and Hong Kong.

Ticket prices for the fan meeting range from VND1.9 million to VND4.9 million (US$73–188), with fans organizing LED billboard displays across central streets to welcome her.

Hyeri, best known for her role in the hit television series Reply 1988 and as a member of the girl group Girl's Day, was greeted by a crowd of fans at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City upon her arrival on Friday. 

The 31-year-old appeared in casual clothing and waved to supporters while accepting gifts and posing for photos.

Later that evening, Hyeri posted photos on Instagram of her visit to the southern Vietnamese metropolis, showing her walking through city streets, dining, and shopping.

Fans responded enthusiastically in the comments, with some urging her to try local dishes like banh xeo (Vietnamese sizzling cake), bun dau mam tom (rice vermicelli noodles with fried tofu and shrimp paste), and bun bo (Vietnamese rice noodles with sliced beef). 

Others expressed excitement over her visit, writing, "Please wait there, I'm coming."

The visit marks her first formal engagement with Vietnamese fans, although she has previously traveled to the country.

Hyeri debuted with Girl's Day in 2010 and gained popularity with songs such as 'Something,' 'Darling,' and 'Ring My Bell.' 

Although the group has not officially disbanded, it has not released new music since 2019.

Hyeri was previously in a high-profile relationship with actor Ryu Jun Yeol, her Reply 1988 co-star. 

The couple broke up in late 2023.

South Korean media recently reported that she is dating dancer Cha Woo Tae, who coached her for the film Victory

Her agency, Sublime, declined to confirm the reports, citing her right to privacy.
