Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Le Hai Binh said on Thursday that Dutch authorities had completed the identification of the Vietnamese victims, who were among the 298 passengers to die in the tragedy.

The boy, Dang Quoc Duy, 13, was identified several days after the bodies of the two other Vietnamese –31-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Minh, Duy’s mother, and 17-year-old Dang Minh Chau, his sister – were identified.

Minh was taking her two children to Hanoi for a summer vacation and to visit her parents. They would have transited in Kuala Lumpur on the way.

The ministry has asked the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands to coordinate with Dutch agencies to assist the relatives of the victims in carrying out procedures to travel to the European country on October 12 to receive the bodies and repatriate them.

The three Vietnamese victims were born in Vietnam, but they later obtained Dutch citizenship.

Minh and her two children lived in Delft, a small town 60km from Amsterdam.

She was born and raised in Hanoi. Her younger brother lives with their parents in the Vietnamese capital city.

In August 2013 her husband, Dang Quoc Thang, died in an accident.

The Boeing 777 was shot down in Ukraine while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 298 fatalities include 192 Dutch nationals (one of whom also had U.S. citizenship), 44 citizens of Malaysia (including 15 crewmembers), 27 Australians, 12 Indonesians, 10 from the United Kingdom (one of whom also had South African citizenship), four from Germany, four from Belgium, three from the Philippines, one from Canada, and one from New Zealand, according to the Interfax-Ukraine.

No one has claimed responsibility for the downing of the plane over war-torn Ukraine, but it is suspected that the airliner was hit by a missile fired by pro-Russian separatists, according to Independent.ie.
