Meteorologists warned that unstable atmospheric conditions during the seasonal transition could also bring dangerous thunderstorms and whirlwinds.

Rain is forecast to occur in the evening, mainly in the city’s northern areas, including Binh Duong, Cu Chi and Hoc Mon, as well as central urban areas.

The southern part of the city, including Can Gio, Nha Be and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, are expected to receive less rain.

The weather agency added that southern Vietnam would generally experience partly cloudy skies and sunny conditions on Thursday.

Maximum temperatures are forecast to range from 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, with some locations potentially exceeding 34 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall is expected to become more widespread toward the evening.

In the southeastern part, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast mainly in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City, with some locations expected to see moderate to heavy rain.

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is likely to see localized showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the late afternoon and evening.

In the southwestern part, or the Mekong Delta, scattered rain may hit inland areas and along the western border. Coastal areas are expected to remain mostly dry, although localized showers and thunderstorms remain possible.

The weather agency attributed the early end of the rainy season in southern Vietnam to the continued influence of a very strong El Nino event.

Rainfall has already fallen below the long-term average as the region enters the dry season, while temperatures have risen by more than 1.3 degrees Celsius, according to the agency.

For November, total rainfall across southern Vietnam is forecast to be around or below the long-term average.

Rain is expected to be more frequent in the first week of November before gradually decreasing during the rest of the month.
