Lien Khuong int'l airport in Vietnam’s Central Highlands to end passenger paging

The airport on Saturday notified airlines operating there of its plan to discontinue routine public-address announcements.

As planned, beginning October 1, the airport will suspend announcements calling passengers to check in, proceed to departure gates for boarding, and other passenger-search announcements.

It will stop all routine passenger-related announcements at the terminal from 5:00 am on November 1.

The public-address system will be reserved for emergencies, fire prevention and response, security, and aviation safety situations as required by regulations.

The measure is intended to create a quieter terminal environment and improve the overall passenger experience.

The airport has asked airlines to proactively inform passengers of the change and encourage them to monitor flight information on the terminal's display screens and arrive at their departure gates on time.

Airlines are also expected to deploy staff to assist, monitor, and remind passengers in check-in areas and departure lounges.

Located in the Da Lat area, Lam Dong Province, Lien Khuong International Airport reopened on August 19 after a five-month closure for runway repairs.

Statistics showed that the airport handled hundreds of take-offs and landings, served nearly 39,000 passengers, and transported 76 metric tons of cargo between August 19 and 26.

During the recent National Day holiday, the airport welcomed 36 to 40 flights a day, with passenger numbers rising 20 to 30 percent compared with the first week after its reopening.
