Local and international tourists travelling on the Hue-Da Nang or Hue-Phong Nha tourist trains can receive a 50-percent discount on entrance fees at five heritage sites within the UNESCO-recognized Complex of Hue Monuments in Hue City, located in central Vietnam, Vietnam National Railways announced on Tuesday.

The municipal People’s Committee offers the incentive program in a bid to stimulate tourism demand, encourage visitors to experience rail travel and extend their stays in the city.

The five sites covered by the discount are the Hue Imperial Citadel, the Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities, the Tomb of King Thieu Tri, the Tomb of King Duc Duc and the Tomb of King Dong Khanh.

The offer is available to both domestic and international tourists holding valid tickets for either direction of the Hue-Phong Nha tourist train route or the Hue-Da Nang heritage railway service.

The discount is valid for seven consecutive days from the date of rail travel indicated on the ticket, whether issued in paper or electronic format.

Each train ticket entitles its holder to one discounted admission at one of the five heritage sites.

The ‘Central Heritage Connection’ railway route between Hue and Da Nang began operations in early 2024.

The journey takes some three hours, passing through some of central Vietnam's most spectacular landscapes, including the Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon system, Lang Co Bay and Hai Van Pass.

Connecting two cities rich in cultural and historical heritage, the train journey also offers passengers a distinctive perspective on the natural beauty of central Vietnam from their carriage windows.

The railway agency expects the 50-percent admission discount at the five Hue heritage sites to strengthen the appeal of tourism products combining rail travel and cultural heritage, encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring the city.

The international appeal of central Vietnam's heritage railway has received recognition.

On October 6, U.S. travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler unveiled its list of the 20 best train trips in the world for 2026.

Vietnam's Hue-Da Nang heritage train ranked 10th on the list.
