The delegation organized the 'Malaysia Tourism, Arts, Culture and Food Fest 2025' in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from July 29 to August 2.
The event was aimed at strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and promoting the upcoming 'Visit Malaysia 2026' campaign, with Vietnam being identified as a key target market within the ASEAN region.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Minister Tiong emphasized that Vietnam remains one of Malaysia’s most important tourism partners in Southeast Asia.
He stated that the series of events in Vietnam marked a significant milestone in Malaysia’s international promotional strategy for Visit Malaysia 2026.
“The events in Vietnam not only showcase Malaysia’s rich offerings in tourism, arts, culture, and cuisine,” said the minister.
“We believe this visit will strengthen partnerships and support our mutual goal of developing sustainable, inclusive tourism that benefits both nations in the long term.”
Beyond nature and urban attractions, Malaysia also offers one of the world’s most vibrant culinary traditions.
The country’s multicultural heritage has created a diverse flavor landscape.
“In Malaysia, we welcome our Vietnamese friends with open arms and a table full of food,” the minister said.

As of July 2025, there are 164 direct flights per week between Malaysia and Vietnam, meeting the growing demand of travelers.
According to the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board’s office in Vietnam, the increased flight frequency offers greater flexibility in travel planning and supports tourism segments such as weekend getaways, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism, and business-leisure trips, especially appealing to Vietnam’s middle class and younger generations.
Malaysia is currently the second-largest ASEAN source market of tourists to Vietnam, after Cambodia, with 266,000 Malaysian visitors recorded in the first five months of 2025.
In the same period, Malaysia welcomed 168,677 Vietnamese tourists, reaffirming its position as a favorite destination for Vietnamese travelers.
