The prize, established by leading hotel booking site agoda.com, is based on quantity of bookings via this website and great reviews and comments from agoda.com customers. It is recognition of the efforts Mango Bay has put in to develop the resort into a travel destination in itself, a testament to the saying that being environmentally friendly does not need to compromise on luxury.

Cathie B., a guest from England has shared on agoda.com on 17 May 2012 about their stay in Mango Bay: “As guests who are quite hard to please it is rare that we can spend 10 day anywhere and not have a few gripes. In the case of Mango Bay, it is hard to find fault. Quite simple, it's very, very good. Accommodation - our plantation bungalow was spacious, clean, airy and comfortable. Restaurant - after five trips to the country and a highly varied experience with the food, Mango Bay offers some of the best food I have had in Vietnam. Really delicious. The Executive Chef, Ms Linh, runs a tight ship it the kitchen and even managed to teach me how to cook! Staff - you get a sense that all of the staff love working at Mango Bay. Most of them have worked here for a long time and their passion shines through. Du Doi, the Front Office Manager, was incredibly proactive, even checking on our outbound flights without being asked. Spa - all sessions were great and the views were superb with the sound of the waves. We think that Mango Bay offers fantastic value for money - go before they finish the new international airport. We can't recommend this place highly enough. Stayed May 2012, travelled as a couple.”

The global Gold Circle Awards that Mango Bay was given has, in one way or another, put this Phu Quoc resort in the same league with the grand dames of hotels around the world such as Boscolo Exedra in Rome, Italy; Palazzo Versace in Gold Coast, Australia or Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa in Japan.

“We are very honored to receive this prize alongside the great hotels of the world”, said Le Bihan Ronan, General Manager of the resort. “However, in this hospitality business you cannot rest on your laurels. We will continue doing what we think are best for our guests, such as constantly improving the quality of our friendly and diligent staff; providing the freshest, most exquisitely cooked food using local, seasonal produce; making sure the rooms are impeccably furnished with crisp linen and organic toiletries. So our guests, mostly city folks flying for a weekend or holiday, would have the most idyllic retreat and come back home fully relaxed.”

At Mango Bay, guests could either bask in the calmness and tranquility of the meticulously decorated rooms in cool, Zen-like style, swim in the shimmering blue sea where the only sounds around are that of waves crashing into shores, watch the sweeping sunset across the ocean from the comfort of their own terrace, enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy massage in the seafront spa, or tuck into succulent Vietnamese dishes.
