On May 7, Michelin Guide said this globally renowned dining guide would reveal its 2026 selection of food establishments in Vietnam in June.
The 2026 edition marks the fourth time the Michelin Guide has been held in Vietnam, covering eateries in the country’s three major tourism and culinary hubs: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang.
In 2025, the guide introduced a list of 181 dining establishments across Vietnam.
To compile the list, Michelin’s anonymous inspectors assess and rank several restaurants based on five globally consistent criteria: quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, the chef’s personality expressed through the cuisine, and consistency across the menu and over time.
The 2026 announcement will carry added significance as the global culinary community marks the 100th anniversary of the Michelin Star.
Since 1926, the Michelin Guide has recognized outstanding restaurants and celebrated excellence in gastronomy.
The ceremony is scheduled for June 4 in Hanoi and is expected to gather chefs, restaurant owners, management teams, and food industry experts.
As one of the world’s best-known dining guides, the Michelin Guide is widely consulted by travelers visiting new destinations.
Introduced in Vietnam in 2023, the guide has received praise for placing Vietnamese cuisine on an international stage, while simultaneously sparking debate over differences between local and international culinary tastes.
In addition to its selected food establishments list, the Michelin Guide awards stars to standout restaurants.
In 2025, nine restaurants in Vietnam received one Michelin Star, a recognition for establishments serving cuisine made with 'top quality ingredients' and considered 'worth a stop.'
Some commentators, however, argue that Vietnam’s rich and diverse culinary scene deserves more Michelin-starred establishments.
