These two key projects are part of a broader campaign involving the groundbreaking and inauguration of 250 projects across 34 provinces and cities nationwide, marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
The Viettel research & development center will be built on a 13-hectare site in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, with an investment of VND10 trillion ($380.3 million).
The facility will include six smart buildings and is expected to be completed by 2030.
It will serve as a flagship R&D hub, encompassing a closed-loop process for research, design, prototyping, and production of high-tech 'made in Vietnam' products.
The center will focus on mastering technologies for the development of missiles, cruise engines, unmanned aerial vehicles, remote sensing satellites, and radar systems, contributing to the creation of military equipment tailored to national defense needs.
In addition, the center will conduct research and apply emerging technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to develop devices, software, solutions, platforms, and services aligned with market demands and global technology trends.
The facility is designed and operated according to international standards, integrating elements of intelligence, sustainability, and eco-friendliness, ensuring both high technical performance and environmental harmony.
It will also be equipped with an advanced security system featuring multiple protection layers and the most modern technologies, ensuring absolute safety and confidentiality.
The center is expected to employ 2,500 highly qualified professionals.

The An Khanh data center will cover 1.9 hectares, with a total investment of VND17.5 trillion ($665.6 million) and a designed capacity of 60MW.
It is expected to become the largest data center in northern Vietnam.
Phase 1 of the data center is set to be operational by the second quarter of 2026. By 2030, the center will be upgraded into Viettel’s second hyperscale data center.
Designed according to Uptime Tier III standards, the facility will integrate Viettel-developed AI, a five-layer security system, and advanced cooling technologies to ensure sustainable, green operations aimed at achieving net-zero emissions.
This data center will serve as critical infrastructure for digital transformation efforts across the government, the Ministry of National Defense and major enterprises, and the nationwide deployment of artificial intelligence.
