Travelers visiting Phu Quoc, an island city off Vietnam's southern Kien Giang Province, during the holidays of the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1), are increasingly drawn to unique nature-based experiences like pig racing, beachside golf, and catching ducks in the sea.

Workers in Vietnam are enjoying a five-day break from April 30 to May 4.

The city welcomed nearly 50 flights on Thursday, bringing in a mix of domestic and international tourists eager to explore the island, according to a representative from the Phu Quoc International Airport.

Visitors are being treated to various activities that blend recreation with nature, including wading into shallow waters to catch clams and grab ducks, watching pig races and even playing golf on the beach.

“The coastal stretch in Ham Ninh Commune is breathtaking,” said Minh Truong, a visitor from Can Tho City.

“There’s plenty of greenery, so the air is fresh, and I had an amazing time catching clams and ducks and even trying my hand at sea golf. It was all so enjoyable and refreshing,” he shared.

The beach in Ham Ninh Commune, Bai Thom Beach, and Rach Vem Beach in Ganh Dau Commune have seen a surge in tourist arrivals.

The waters are calm and clear, making them ideal for both relaxation and water-based games with family and friends.

“Nature-based tourism that brings people closer to nature is becoming a favorite for many,” said Pham Hong Son, owner of tourism site Dugong Bay in Ham Ninh Commune.

“I’ve created a green garden in the forest with areas for pig and crab races, beach duck catching, and have even recreated the traditional Ham Ninh fishing village to showcase the cultural heritage of the local people.”
