Nearly 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil arrive at Vietnam port after passing through Strait of Hormuz

The shipment was imported by Vietnam Oil Corporation, a member of Petrovietnam, to supply feedstock to the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical plant.

According to Petrovietnam, the crude oil cargo will help ensure a stable supply of raw materials to domestic fuel production while strengthening Vietnam’s energy security and supporting the country’s growing energy demand.

As Vietnam continues to maintain strong economic growth and increasing energy consumption, a stable supply of crude oil is considered essential not only for fuel refining and production but also for supporting industrial activities, trade, transportation, and daily life.

The shipment was supplied by PVOIL Singapore, a subsidiary of Vietnam Oil Corporation responsible for trading crude oil and petroleum products in international markets.

Vietnam Oil Corporation serves as a key intermediary connecting global crude oil sources with Vietnam, helping secure feedstock for the country’s refineries and supporting domestic fuel production.

Together with other entities within the Petrovietnam ecosystem, Vietnam Oil Corporation participates across the energy value chain, from oil exploration and production to refining and fuel distribution.

Petrovietnam said the arrival of the nearly two million barrels of Iraqi crude oil contributes to maintaining refinery operations and ensuring the continuity of Vietnam’s fuel production and supply chains.

The shipment is also expected to help safeguard energy flows and enhance national energy security at a time when global markets continue to face uncertainties and geopolitical risks.
