Lam extended the invitation during a meeting on AI and technology held in London on Tuesday as part of his official visit to the UK from October 28 to 30.
The event marked a strategic step toward deepening Vietnam’s collaboration with global technology powers and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to digital transformation.
In his opening remarks, General Secretary Lam expressed his appreciation for the experts’ insights, stating that artificial intelligence is a key driver of economic growth and innovation.
He noted that Vietnam regards science, technology, and digital transformation as top national priorities to achieve sustainable development and move up the global value chain.
Lam said the meeting marked a meaningful starting point for a long-term partnership between Vietnam and leading international experts.
He invited scientists and specialists in AI and technology to visit Vietnam for exchanges and collaboration with policymakers and research institutions, turning ideas from the discussion into real-world projects that generate value and build trust for humanity in the age of AI.
Lam repeated Vietnam’s readiness to embrace new ideas and work with advanced nations to build a world where AI fosters creativity, compassion, peace, and prosperity.
He expressed hope that international experts will continue to support Vietnam’s development in AI in particular, and in science and technology in general.
He outlined three areas of focus: sharing experience in national AI strategy, developing digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystems, and promoting investment, technology transfer, and AI applications in healthcare, smart agriculture, and digital education.
Experts at the meeting praised Vietnam’s rapid economic growth, competitive manufacturing base, and digitally skilled young workforce.
They also spotlighted the country’s administrative reforms and openness to international cooperation as key advantages for becoming a trusted partner in the global digital network.
Some recommended developing responsible AI standards to ensure transparency and fairness while safeguarding privacy.
General Secretary Lam said he was deeply impressed by the experts’ ideas and pledged to assign relevant authorities to study their proposals and turn them into practical initiatives in Vietnam.
