A screenshot from a video shared on a Facebook page on August 20, 2025 shows a foreign man riding dangerously through traffic on Tran Phu Street in Nha Trang, a popular beach destination in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam

The 47-second video, shared on a Facebook page with over 800,000 followers on Wednesday evening, shows the foreigner racing along Tran Phu Street, a busy seaside road, drawing outrage from local residents and social media users.

Comments on the post called for strict enforcement.

“Authorities should step in quickly to ensure safety for residents and tourists,” wrote user Duy Tam.

Another, Minh Tram, said: “It’s terrifying. Traffic police must deal firmly with foreigners who ignore Vietnam’s traffic laws.”

A senior officer from the Nha Trang traffic police unit told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same evening that the incident will be verified and handled according to regulations.

He stressed that foreigners must have an international driver’s license, with valid authorization for the type of vehicle operated, along with other required documents.

Foreigners who lack proper licenses but still drive in Vietnam face fines ranging from VND3 million (US$114) to VND7 million ($266), the officer added.
