Porsche driver summoned after drifting stunt on Ho Chi Minh City street

An Khanh Ward Police, in coordination with the Cat Lai Traffic Police Team under the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Division and other relevant units, summoned the driver seen performing drifting maneuvers on Nguyen Co Thach Street on Friday.

Authorities initially identified the driver as C.M., 23, a resident of Hanoi.

He presented his driver's license and vehicle registration documents during the working session with police.

The incident occurred on the night of June 4, and footage recorded by bystanders was later widely shared on social media.

Earlier on Friday, videos circulating online showed a Porsche repeatedly drifting on a road in the Sala urban area in An Khanh Ward.

The sound of the revving engine also drew the attention of nearby residents and passers-by.

After receiving reports of the incident, police launched an investigation, reviewed surveillance camera footage, identified the vehicle owner, and summoned the driver for questioning.

Drifting is a driving technique in which a driver intentionally causes a vehicle’s rear wheels to lose traction, allowing the car to slide sideways through a turn while maintaining control.

An Khanh Ward Police are continuing to work with the driver while compiling evidence and completing procedural steps related to the case.

Police noted that performing drifting maneuvers on public roads violates traffic regulations and poses risks to both road users and pedestrians.

The technique is generally associated with professional motorsport events or designated facilities where it can be carried out under controlled conditions.
