The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that hot weather subsided in the northeast, including Hanoi, and began easing elsewhere on Tuesday.
Forecasts show that on Wednesday, the northwest will still experience highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 37 degrees.
The northeast will see only localized heat above 35 degrees.
In central Vietnam, hot conditions will remain severe from Thanh Hoa to Hue, with highs of 38-40 degrees Celsius and some areas surpassing 40 degrees.
Da Nang and the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will see 36-38 degrees Celsius, while the Central Highlands and southern provinces will record 35-36 degrees Celsius.
By Thursday, the hot weather is forecast to end nationwide, the weather agency said.
Between Thursday and next Monday, northern provinces are expected to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms due to weak cold air fronts, bringing cooler conditions.
The north-central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will see scattered rain from late Thursday through Friday.
The Central Highlands and southern provinces may also see evening scattered showers from Wednesday to Friday.
The agency warned that during this transitional period, thunderstorms could bring dangerous phenomena such as whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts.
Since April 3, many regions have endured unusually intense heat.
The central provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Hue recorded highs of 38-40 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas in Nghe An and Ha Tinh exceeding 41 degrees Celsius.
The weather agency said that such extreme temperatures in early April have been rare in the past decade, though they did not surpass the record highs of April 2024.
