The meeting took place during PM Chinh’s official visit to Russia from Sunday through Wednesday at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.
During the talks, PM Chinh shared Vietnam’s development goals of becoming a modern industrialized nation with upper-middle income by 2030, and achieving high-income developed status by 2045.
He emphasized Vietnam’s gratitude for the long-standing support from the former Soviet Union and Russia at present, noting the importance of preserving and advancing the bilateral relationship.
Shoigu affirmed Russia’s readiness to work closely with Vietnam to implement agreements reached during recent high-level exchanges.
He highlighted Moscow’s willingness to assist Vietnam in ensuring energy security amid global instability, while also expanding cooperation into new areas to strengthen socio-economic development.
Both sides reviewed achievements in defense, trade, investment, energy, transport, science and technology, and cultural exchange.
They agreed to intensify collaboration in military technology, high-quality workforce training, and scientific research, including the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center.
The leaders also stressed the importance of tackling both traditional and non-traditional security challenges, enhancing peace and stability in line with the UN Charter and international law.
Regarding the Vietnamese community in Russia, both sides recognized its role as a vital bridge in fostering friendship.
Shoigu expressed hope that more Vietnamese would study, work, and live in Russia, contributing to bilateral ties.
PM Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam’s support for overseas communities, encouraging integration and contributions to the host country.
With strong political trust and determination, both countries believed their comprehensive strategic partnership will continue to grow, delivering tangible benefits to their peoples.
