In celebration of the country’s 80th National Day, Viet Mai, owner of the Huân Đậu Đậu Coffee & Homestay, decided to waive 100 percent of room fees for those who contributed to maintaining the nation’s peace and independence.

As soon as it was posted on social media, the news received widespread support and quickly spread across the online community.

Mai said his offer was just a modest gesture, through which he hopes to express his gratitude to those who contributed to the country.

“Thanks to the previous generation, to the war veterans and Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, we are able to live in peace and happiness today,” he expressed.

“I sincerely look forward to welcoming veterans, revolutionary contributors, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and their families to Sa Pa on this occasion, so I can serve them with warmth,’ Mai said.

On this occasion, visitors from Laos, Cuba, and Russia will also receive free accommodation at the homestay.

In the past, Vietnam has received much support from the countries, whose people are like brothers to the Vietnamese, Mai explained.

‘I want to spread the hospitality of the Vietnamese people,’ he said.

The program runs from August 16 to September 5. Rooms at the homestay feature two queen beds and are decorated with local handicrafts.

Mai hopes that if the initiative gains traction, more homestays and hotels will join in, creating more opportunities to honor those who contributed to the nation’s revolution and independence.

According to Mai, during the holiday, visitors to Sa Pa can enjoy a variety of experiences exploring local culture and trying adventure tourism activities.

The September 2 occasion also marks the start of the rice harvest season in Sa Pa, promising to be an attractive destination for the holiday.

Besides Sa Pa, other northern destinations such as Ninh Binh, Ha Long, and Ha Giang are also considered appealing for the September 2 holiday.

In particular, Hanoi is heating up with a series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, as hotel bookings surge, especially along the parade routes.
