The survey, released on Tuesday, showed ShopeeFood accounted for 56 percent of online food delivery orders in Vietnam during a seven-day period in April.
GrabFood ranked second with 36 percent of the orders, followed by BeFood at eight percent.
NielsenIQ also reported that ShopeeFood was the first brand that came to mind for 50 percent of 800 online food delivery users polled, outperforming competitors in brand recall.
An independent survey by Decision Lab confirmed ShopeeFood as the most used food delivery app in major cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang — capturing 49 percent of the market.
Despite ShopeeFood’s recent surge in order volume and top-of-mind awareness, a separate report by Momentum Works released earlier this year showed Grab remained the largest market share in Vietnam’s food delivery market for 2024, holding 48 percent.
ShopeeFood trailed closely behind with 47 percent, while BeFood held four percent.
Vietnam’s food delivery market has grown rapidly, with a gross merchandise value (GMV) reaching US$1.8 billion in 2024, up from $1.4 billion in 2023 — marking a 26-percent increase, the fastest growth rate among Southeast Asian countries, according to Momentum Works.
Experts attribute the market’s expansion to increasing customer segments, diversification of services, and strong partnerships between platforms and local businesses.
