Sleeper bus overturns, leaving 10 dead in north-central Vietnam

A devastating traffic accident occurred in the wee hours of Friday in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam as a sleeper bus overturned on National Highway 1, leaving 10 people dead and 14 others injured.

The crash took place at around 1:45 am in Song Tri Ward.

The sleeper bus, registered in Da Nang City, central Vietnam, was en route from Hanoi to Da Nang when it suddenly veered off course and struck roadside markers before overturning.

The vehicle was driven by Le Ngoc Thanh, a 36-year-old resident of Dong Quang Ward in Thanh Hoa Province.

Among the deceased were five victims aged between four and 48, from various localities, including Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Bac Giang, and Ninh Binh.

The identities of the remaining fatalities are still being verified.

Meanwhile, the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The sleeper bus sustained extensive damage in the crash.

Local police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident.

Preliminary testing showed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at the time of the crash.
