Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of man in Vietnam’s Dong Nai

The current Dong Nai Province is a merger of the former Dong Nai Province and neighboring Binh Phuoc Province, effective from July 1, as part of a recent major administrative restructuring in which Vietnam’s total number of provinces and cities was reduced to 34 from 63.

The suspect, Tran Thanh Hai, 43, is a resident of Ho Chi Minh City.

He was arrested for investigation on charges of murder, and illegal possession, transportation, and use of military-grade weapons.

At around 7:40 pm on Tuesday, N.T.A., a 43-year-old resident of Phu Lam Commune, Dong Nai Province, was drinking with D.Q.T., a 48-year-old man in the same commune, in the yard of A.’s house.

While they were drinking, a loud bang was suddenly heard from outside. 

A. shouted, and a second shot was fired shortly after. 

A. then clutched his neck and ran inside his house.

Family members rushed him to Dinh Quan Regional General Hospital with gunshot wounds to the neck and arm. 

However, due to the severity of the injuries, he did not survive.

Upon receiving the report, local authorities launched an investigation and tracked down the suspect.
