A traffic officer said on Monday that the Rach Chiec traffic police team under the municipal Department of Public Security, in coordination with police in Hiep Binh Ward, summoned the driver, identified as L.V.T. , a resident of southern An Giang Province, for questioning.
He was booked for ‘reckless driving’ as stipulated in Clause 12, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024.
As per the prevailing regulations, such behavior carries a fine of VND40-50 million ($1,520-1,900) and a license suspension of 10-12 months.
Repeat offenses may result in the vehicle being confiscated.
During questioning, T. admitted to the violation, but claimed he was reacting out of frustration, believing another vehicle had cut him off.
In retaliation, he swerved aggressively.

The case came to light on Sunday afternoon, when dashcam footage shared on social media showed a taxi weaving through traffic on National Highway 13, heading from the roundabout near Binh Loi Bridge toward the old Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station.
As the vehicle approached the foot of the Binh Trieu Bridge, it suddenly swerved and cut in front of another car, posing a significant danger to others on the road.
The driver of the affected vehicle later retrieved and posted the footage online, prompting swift action from traffic police.
After verifying the incident, officers summoned T. and required him to sign a written commitment not to repeat the offense.
