Military-run telecom giant Viettel has retained its title as Vietnam’s most valuable brand, according to the Vietnam 100 2025 report released on Tuesday by UK-based consultancy Brand Finance.

This marks the 10th consecutive year Viettel has led the rankings, with a brand valuation of US$7.4 billion.

Dairy producer Vinamilk and lender Vietcombank ranked second and third, respectively.

Vinamilk saw a slight dip in value, dropping two percent to $2.6 billion, while Vietcombank's brand surged 16 percent to reach $2.4 billion.

Despite these gains, the overall brand value of the top 100 Vietnamese brands fell 14 percent year on year, totaling $38.4 billion.

The report attributes the decline to broader economic headwinds, even as Vietnam's GDP is projected to grow seven percent in 2025.

The report noted strong digital transformation efforts in the banking sector, with 87 percent of brands accelerating digital initiatives.

Real estate brands recorded a 27-percent increase in value and the technology sector grew 10 percent, reflecting adaptability in a difficult economic climate.

Among top performers, lender MBBank stood out as the fastest-growing brand in the country. Its value rose 87 percent to $1.6 billion, driven by rapid digital expansion, a growing focus on small- and medium-sized enterprises, and specialized services for corporate clients.

Vinpearl, a subsidiary of Vingroup, was named Vietnam's strongest brand based on Brand Finance's Brand Strength Index. It received a score of 97.5 out of 100, with a brand value of $204 million.

Vietcombank and insurance firm Bao Viet followed with scores of 95.3 and 92.8, respectively. Bao Viet's brand value stood at $603 million.

Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia-Pacific at Brand Finance, praised the resilience of Vietnamese brands in a challenging global environment.

He cited Viettel's continued investment in 5G, MBBank's digital push, and Vinpearl's rapid growth as key examples of strategic progress.

Haigh also pointed to Vietnam's advances in sustainability, highlighting the 2024 ESG disclosure manual that now requires over 2,000 major emitters to submit annual greenhouse gas inventories.

This regulation supports the country's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

In the sustainability perception value rankings, Viettel led with $400 million in sustainability-driven brand value, fueled by its commitment to green technology and community engagement.

VietinBank also drew attention with the highest positive differential in sustainability perception value at $9 million, signaling strong growth potential in reputation and branding linked to sustainable development.
