Many travelers have completed their bookings two to three months ahead of Tet, which lasts from February 14 to 22, to secure preferred itineraries, service quality and stable prices during the peak season.
Multiple Tet tours offered by BenThanh Tourist are fully booked or have only very limited availability remaining.
All tours to New Zealand, Australia and Europe have sold out.
Most Northeast Asian itineraries, including Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, have only four to eight seats left.
Tours to Southeast Asian nations such as Malaysia and Singapore are also nearing capacity, with just one to four seats remaining per tour.
Even tours still open for sale have reached occupancy rates of 80-90 percent, depending on the route.
In the domestic market, flight-based tours to Hanoi and Da Nang City, central Vietnam have completely closed.
Tran Phuong Linh, director of marketing and information technology at BenThanh Tourist, said that the tour operator is only selling some overland tours to Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang and destinations in the Mekong Delta.
Besides, the firm has introduced early Tet tours featuring distinctive itineraries such as visits to Sa Dec Flower Village and Lai Vung Pink Mandarin Orchard in Dong Thap Province, offering travelers a chance to fully experience the spring atmosphere and the unique cultural character of the southwestern region.
Similarly, Vietravel reported a clear increase in early bookings for this year’s Lunar New Year holiday.
Most tours departing on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year, particularly those favored by family groups, groups of friends and multi-generational families, are already fully booked.
“We always recommend that travelers planning Tet tours book early to avoid shortages as the holiday approaches,” said a Vietravel representative.
Despite ongoing economic challenges, many travel firms are maintaining stable growth, with estimated increases of 15 - 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
Tran Thi Bao Thu, director of communications and marketing at Vietluxtour, noted that compared with previous years, the Tet tour market is becoming more clearly segmented, with mid-range and high-end tours selling out faster and earlier.
Branavan Aruljothi, country head of Booking.com in Vietnam, said the 2026 Tet season reflects increasingly diverse travel behaviors, ranging from early travel to avoid peak crowds to short-haul international trips.
Data show that in the period leading up to Tet, Vietnamese travelers primarily search for familiar domestic resort destinations and nearby Asian countries that are convenient to reach.
“With an extended holiday, Vietnamese travelers tend to expand their journeys to more distant destinations.
“This remains a golden opportunity for Vietnam’s tourism sector to sustain growth in 2026,” Aruljothi said.
