Thousands of residents visited the Museum of Hanoi on Monday afternoon as the Hanoi People's Committee officially opened an exhibition showcasing the capital's 100-year master plan.

On the exhibition's opening day, long queues formed as visitors lined up in two rows stretching from inside the exhibition hall to the museum's entrance on Pham Hung Street, waiting for their turn to enter.

Inside, large crowds gathered around displays featuring scale models, maps, and planning documents to learn about Hanoi's development strategy for the next century.

Hanoi leaders and delegates tour the exhibition after its official opening.

On the museum's first floor, authorities have installed a seven-meter-diameter circular scale model presenting the latest planning boundaries under the 100-year development blueprint.

The fourth floor, covering approximately 1,200 square meters, has been transformed into a dedicated exhibition space featuring a large-scale model enhanced with 3D mapping technology to vividly illustrate the city's future planning vision.

The exhibition also includes large display panels tracing Hanoi's planning history through different periods, alongside the capital's administrative expansion, urban spatial development plans, citywide infrastructure networks, and land-use maps for urban and functional areas.

Visitors can also view architectural drawings and models of several major projects, watch 3D documentary films about the master plan, and experience a pilot digital system for searching for planning information.

Ngo Quang Hung, a resident of Vinh Tuy Ward, said he arrived at the museum early because he wanted to gain first-hand insight into Hanoi's future development.

"I came very early, but there were already many people waiting to see the exhibition. The atmosphere is very exciting," Hung said.

"However, the displays are still quite general, making it difficult for residents to fully understand the plan. I hope there will be more detailed planning exhibitions in the future so people can see exactly how the areas where they live are represented on the maps."

According to Hung, the most impressive feature of the exhibition was the well-planned urban railway network, including both metro and elevated rail lines, which is expected to improve transportation and connectivity across the city.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from June 29 to August 29.

Earlier the same day, the Hanoi People's Committee held a conference at the National Convention Center on Pham Hung Street to officially announce Hanoi's 100-year master plan and the city's 2026 investment promotion program.
